Top 5 beauty products | 2017

Every month, I usually come out with my top 5 beauty products. This was for May 2017.

So here's my top 5:

 1. COSRX advanced snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

I've been actively using this on a daily basis after I have discovered that it's not the root cause of causing me acne. This is odorless, light texture and easy on the skin. It's 96 mucin power for a reason because as stated this essence contains no water and 96% snail secretion. This helps to targets breakout and dry skin. It really does plump and brighten my complexion over time. I stopped using vitamin C serum from kiehls as it was giving more acne and scars to deal with.

This snail essence is like the bomb. It hydrates my skin and make it glowy, not oily at all. I am sure you all have heard about snail related products, how they naturally help to brighten and clear acne scars. My skin is recovering from the scars and it's not cracky and dry from all the acne cream and strong facial mask( glamglow) that I have been experimenting for the past 3 years. I use this on both my face and neck at night only.

This is safe for sensitive, acne prone, and all skin types.

 2. Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra Oily Skin

This was new and was on promotion. So I decided to give it a try and I fell in love with it. The salesperson said she uses this and she didn't bother to rinse off with water coz she felt there wasn't a need to. I was like hmm, okay. For the bioderma series, I still do rinse off because i do still feel some stickiness on my forehead. So I'm used to double cleansing anyway. But for this, I wipe once through and I almost forgot to rinse off because it's so light weighted and no sticky feeling.

It has no soap, alcohol and paraben. It's cheaper than the bioderma 500 ML bottle. And it says there Ultra oily, it doesn't mean it's for Ultra oily skin. Ultra is just part of their label for the series, it's meant for oily skin but not the Ultra. Note, there's no alcohol in it because I know most products that are catered to oily skin contain alcohol that usually keeps the oil away temporarily. So far I haven't had breakout from using it for 3 weeks now! Love it!

 3. Fresh - Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy boost

I was so tempted to try this mask for the longest time but I thought it was too pricey.then I decided to get a sample to try. But I kept it to the day maybe when I had to meet a lot of people then I use it since this mask helps to brighten and improve skin clarity with it's complex of vitamin C, E B5, lemon and orange extract - all things citrusy. Then I was reading in the magazine and this won beauty and brides.com awards 2017 so I must def try right.

I tried the sample and I realized my face just looks more vibrant after the first use. I really feel fresh from both the smell and the power of citrus that exfoliates my face. Then just nice, Sephora 20% sale. So I bought and became the owner of this jam mask. It reminds me of the marmalade jam that I used to spread on my bread lol. I use this twice a week to brighten up and prep my face for the next day when I'm going out or on mondays. I wanted to look fresh at the start of the week!

Current state of complexion - my right side recently suffered from acne outburst during my period. So now it's recovering. No more painful cystic ones, so it will take a while to recover to normal. So it's like left side of face is totally clear, right side still has some marks. But this is my face w no concealer and no foundation. Just sunblock, powder and blush. Lol. I don't usually put undereye concealer too lol. And this was taken raw and unedited. Decided to be real here.

 4. Colourpop Pressed Eyeshadow

I was very impressed with Colourpop eyeshadow except for one( high strung) don't bother ordering that, idk if it's just mine or is it the General batch for that colour. It doesn't pick up pigment or colour very well. I tried to dig into it but failed. That's why you can see one distorted looking pot inside because I was trying to dig it up lol and to no avail. I didn't have much of a pink series in my eyeshadow palettes so I had to order from Colourpop and I got the hype about it and I am very pleased.

Here's the swatches of my Colourpop pressed eyeshadow without the use of primer. I thought of going into more details in my later posts and talking about the description of the colours. I am super impressed with the blendability, pigmentation and smoothness. The middle colour which is a reddish orangey brown - top notch is my favourite. I always use it as a transition colour along my crease. It's a mid terra-cotta brown. 😍

 5. Hourglass Ambience palette

I finally am using this to finish off my face daily. It gives my face the subtle healthy glow. I'm not sure about the oil controlling property but it doesn't make my face oily. It looks dewy by the end of the day. And it doesn't break me out. I found the bronzer a bit yellow but it's alright because it's not too pigmented. It's sheer and acceptable. I'm a fan of hourglass and I am on my second bottle of foundation with them. Now I love their pressed ambience palette too.

Bonus favourite: Lancôme Matte Shaker

So obsessed with these juice/ matte shaker. You shake to get more pigment out then you either dap onto your lips to create a gradient or apply multiple layers for a full cover on your lips. It feels a little like the peripera lip stainer but the peripera one usually slips into my mouth and gets onto my teeth. So whenever I use peripera, I had to do a mirror check because I don't want to be smiling with pink teeths. This works very well for me. Natural and matte finish and non drying as well.

The colours I got are 1, Beige vintage - hot selling colour because it's a muted pink. Very nice Nudey pink 2. Kiss me cherie - the picture shows true deep red but when I apply on myself, I often mistook it as pink power because this is reddish pink. But yeah pink power is a fuchsia pink with cool undertone. It's also nice too but I reckon I had something similar so I decided to do away w pink power. I think that kissmecherie will be a good dupe for Katvond Bachelorette as both are reddish pink.

If there is anything else you want my opinion/review on, feel free to let me know down below! And also, I'll be doing some eyeshadow swatches in my upcoming posts! So stay tune!
